Shortly after announcing her new project, "Black Parade," an initiative supporting black-owned businesses, Beyoncé surprised fans with a new song of the same name on Juneteenth.

The singer took to Instagram with the announcement, writing, "Happy Juneteenth Weekend! I hope we continue to share joy and celebrate each other, even in the midst of struggle. Please continue to remember our beauty, strength, and power."

The post featured the song alongside a "Black Parade" tile.

The post goes on to direct fans towards her Black Parade website which highlights black-owned, small businesses for users to support. Black Parade benefits BeyGOOD's Black Business Impact Fund, which is administered by the National Urban League.

"'BLACK PARADE' celebrates you, your voice and your joy and will benefit Black-owned small businesses," the post continues.

The song, a bass-heavy anthem, features lyrics all about returning to "roots" and highlighting the importance of Black culture and ancestry.

The song marks Beyoncé's first new solo contribution to the music world since adding her vocals to The Gift, "The Lion King" companion album, in 2019.

Beyoncé has been particularly vocal in recent weeks in the wake of protests following the death of George Floyd. She recently penned a letter seeking justice for Breonna Taylor while also delivering a heartfelt and powerful commencement address in YouTube's "Dear Class of 2020" event.
